Daphnes Birthday

Okay, call me crazy if you wish, but anybody who knows me knows how much I love my dogs. Daphne is very special to me. She has a had a rough life until I was lucky enough to adopt her. Today she turned four years old! I had to acknowledge her Birthday and so we had a little celebration for her.

For those of you that do not know the story....................

Two years ago a few days after Christmas we had to make the tough decision to put our first Boxer Suez to sleep. She had a stroke. She was actually Dennis's dog and the best dog that any one could ever ask for. She was a very big part of our family. Anyway..... Our house was just too quiet and we missed Sue a great deal. I started snooping around on the internet looking for another Boxer. I was not able to find a puppy in our area or even an adult Boxer that needed a home. I ended up searching outside our area and found a wonderful organization called BoxerLuv a Boxer rescue in Phoenix. I had to fill out an adoption application and send pictures of our home and give our Vets info. I did this all on-line. I then put it out of my mind. To my surprise that night I got a phone call saying we were approved to adopt a Boxer. I was nervous, I hadn't even asked or told Dennis about it and he was still broken up about Sue and said he couldn't go through that again. I ended up telling him what I had done showed him the website with the pictures of all the Boxers that needed a home and let him look and read their stories.
On February 10th I went to Phoenix stayed with Kara for the night and the next day Keirstan and I went and picked up Daphne and brought her home. It was love at first sight! Poor little girl had been abused by a man who only wanted her for breeding and she got pregnant when she was in her first "heat" and alsmost died. The Vet refused to give her back to the owner. When she was well enough she went to a foster home for Boxer Rescue and then she came to live with us in her forever home. She is just a sweetheart. She has an outstanding personality around other dogs so this past January we did it again and adopted her Brother Zeus.
